NEW YORK – 25 October, 2021 – New York City nonprofit First Workings has hired Linda Nguyen as its new Executive Director. Nguyen previously served as the Director of Digital Literacy at The HOPE Program.
Nguyen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from CUNY’s City College and has over a decade of experience working in the corporate and nonprofit worlds.
First Workings is a nonprofit that diversifies the talent pipelines at major companies with programs for high schoolers to acquire social capital. Its services focus on students from underrepresented backgrounds and include matching students to mentorships and paid internships at partner companies, career readiness workshops and college preparation assistance.
“I am thrilled to join First Workings,” said Nguyen. “I have experienced the importance of social capital in my own career and wish to give all young people the tools they need to do the same. First Workings has shown the great things that young people can accomplish when they have the chance to get a foot in the door.”
Nguyen will oversee First Workings’ flagship program in New York and its London program, launched this past summer.
“Linda’s passion for serving her community is unmatched. Her experience in everything from technology and advertising to nonprofits and workforce development perfectly positions her to lead our team,” said Kevin Davis, Founder and Chairman of First Workings. “As a native New Yorker and first generation American who has built a successful career and helped others do the same, Linda is a shining example for our students.”
